Abstract |
According to the study framework, the public health service system on treatments for Karen households was divided into four methods, namely integrated medical method, common medical method, modern medical method and folk medical method respectively. The quantitative study results revealed that households mostly utilized the integrated medical method. The methods were ranked from high to low as integrated, modern, folk, and common. The quantitative and qualitative results about the factors related to the use of medical treatment methods revealed such factors as: economic status, size of land ownership, location of a medical and public health center, convenient access to transportation, location of households, level of information exposure, ability to use the Thai language by household heads, religion of household heads, household size, acuteness of disease, and finally trust and understanding in services of public health personnel. The factor unrelated to the selection of medical treatment methods was the age of household head.
