Abstract |
This thesis investigates the influence of Islam on Malay-Muslims in Southern Thailand as regards their hopes for ethnic, cultural and political freedom. It also investigates the effects of the Thai state’s administration policy for Malay-Muslims and effects of violent movements, riots, conversion to Islam and the strict adherence to its rules as well as the role of international opinion in support of the Thai state and of Malay-Muslims.
