Abstract |
The objective of this thesis was to examine traditional and cultural changes as well as factors affecting the changes and maintenance of cultural identity of the Mon at Chedi Thong Village. It was found that the culture of the ethnic group had continuously changed toward the mainstream Thai culture, due to various factors, e.g. educational reforms or modernization of the country, causing changes in the livelihood of the community members. Nonetheless, religious traditions had rarely changed because there was a pagoda in the village as their spiritual center and community leaders were also religious.
