Abstract |
The study revealed that Muslims in different parts of the country had different ways to receive medical treatment from medical doctors, public health officers and traditional medical practitioners. However, all of them were interested in and knew well on how to prevent sicknesses and how to promote better health. The difference in their health promotion behavior was related to their economic factors, religious principles as well as systems and types of health service providers in their communities. For their better health, the study recommended that each community plan for, manage and encourage community participation by supporting the roles of community and religious leaders, public relations, hygienic development activities, and budget allocation to conduct health promotion work of Muslim communities.
