Abstract |
The lifestyles, values and belief system of the Hmong are related to supernatural power. Animistic rituals are always incorporated into medical procedures, treatment methods and steps, such as, the soul calling ritual when someone falls sick. Sometimes the ethnic group lacks understanding about certain diseases, such as, respiratory disease. Other times, their health-related beliefs and practices are not appropriate, leading to prevention and caring problems (pp. 5, 67-78).
