Abstract |
The thesis investigated factors affecting the acceptance of Lisu women’s political role and problems in their development work and was conducted in order to propose a guideline for developing Lisu women’s political role. Four Lisu leaders were interviewed and case-study data were collected from 50 villagers. It was found that the Lisu did not accept female leaders as readily as male leaders because of their patriarchal thinking system. Important positions in the village were meant for men. Lisu female leaders did not have high education, making them feel less confident, and they could not earn trust from their colleagues. Furthermore, their personality traits, such as gossiping and grumbling, were not readily acceptable.
