Abstract |
The thesis processed five types of data involving the Akha in the study area. The first type was general information: gender, age, family, occupation, income, education and religion. The second type was concerned with understanding legal rights and duties as Thai citizens. The third type was attitudes toward the ruling class and politicians. The fourth type was attitudes toward Thai politics. The last type was the political participation of the ethnic group. It was found that the Akha understood, accessed to and participated in politics at a medium level. Nevertheless, to enhance their political views and their conscience, the state sector was advised to provide more knowledge and understanding on politics to the Akha through state-sponsored education, so that the ethnic group better understood their roles in politics, society and the nation as a whole.
