Abstract |
This research summarized important aspects of residential patterns of the Mon-Thai communities at Bang Kradi as follows. 1) The residential patterns expanded from a cluster of houses to a community due mainly to the factor of kinship system. 2) Components of a house and an arrangement of area use were based on the beliefs in ancestors’ spirits and directions which specified residential patterns, components of a house, house construction, and area use arrangement in a house. 3) Changes of area use in a home were due to being extended family, kinship system, and belief in ancestors’ spirits (pp. 131-136)
