Abstract |
This work examined the factors affecting the acceptance of a highland integrated agricultural system of 99 Hmong households at Chang Khian Village in Tambon Chang Phuak and Doi Pui Village in Tambon Suthep, Muang District, Chiang Mai Province. It was found that the average age of the ethnic farming household heads was 42.60 years with 8.01 family members and with mostly fewer than four years of compulsory education. Furthermore, 13.1% were addicted to narcotic drugs. The average household labor was 4.93 persons. The water sources for cultivation were at a good level and they had few contacts with agricultural promotion officers. Moreover, their highland agricultural training attendance was at a moderate level. Most of them listened to agriculture programs from the radio. Their average annual household income was 98,035.35 baht with average farmland of 18.576 rai. It was further revealed that their education level and listening to agricultural information from radio programs were not related to their level of acceptance (Abstract, iii, iv).
