Abstract |
This work examined the roles of the fishing communities in the study area on marine life resource management based on their local beliefs, wisdom, customs and traditions. These fisher folks bore the blunt of the impact from push net boats that had damaged local marine environment so severely that they were obliged to give up the use of several traditional fishing instruments. This was due to the fact that the equipment could not be utilized because a large amount of marine environment and aquatic life had been destroyed.
