Abstract

The ancestor worship tradition takes the important role for social and cultural organization of Pwo Karen at Dong Salao Kao village. In term of important mechanism, it manages internal producing system among Pwo Karen society including labor and land allocation. They don’t have land ownership regulation but follow their beliefs in ancestor worship for negotiating any labor and land conflicts. The single family is main factor for labor distribution among circulating farming society. Lessening the ancestor worship practice is caused of convenience both journey and expense.
To maintain their tradition is the important reason for ancestor worship tradition in Dong Salao Kao village. Moreover, Buddhism and migrants are the main factors for Karen villager adaptation caused of social acceptance.
However, the belief of ancestor worship in Pwo Karen society is the important mechanism for adaptation, unity, consciousness and maintaining their identity for social survival. (P.72-74)
