Abstract |
This work examined lifestyles of the Yoi ethnic group at Akat Village, Tambon Akat, Akat Amnuay District, Sakon Nakhon Province, and investigated factors influencing changes of the ethnic lifestyles. It also explored socio-cultural aspects of this ethnic group. The ethnic group originally resided on the right bank of the Mekong River, but was migrated to Laos when King Anuwong of Laos revolted in the reign of King Rama II. When King Anuwong was defeated, the ethnic group was taken into Thailand again. They first settled in a small village, named Muang Rim Yam. When the village was more populous, it was upgraded into Akat Amnuay District until today.
