Abstract |
The objective of the investigation was to study the continuous steps of development and evolution in being a transvestite by explaining major conditions and experiences in each step as well as the coming out of the closet, and the lifestyles of transvestites in Muslim-Thai society. Based on the theories of Symbolic Interaction and Relative Visual Deviation, the study found that there were four steps in the process: Step 1 Realization of being different from other boys Step 2 Having their own personal identity Step 3 Coming out of the closet Step 4 Leading a life and making adjustments in a heterosexual society
