Abstract

The author investigates the family structure and family lineage of the ethnic Yao in Thailand, focusing on partner selection tradition, marriage, family lineage, value on children outside marriage and increasing labor, and life after marriage. The author is worried about changes to cultural identity and to traditional customs when the ethnic group has more contacts with the outside world and with education (p. 193).
