Abstract |
The author tries to show Taoism unique to the Yao of the One Hundred Thousand Mountains in Southern Guang Xi, China. The article tentatively tells of the origin and development of Taoism that existed well before the ethnic group settled in the region. The author explains about Tao beliefs and the practices of the ethnic group in combination with their indigenous beliefs. Therefore, Taoism is unique to the Yao with their indigenous beliefs and the religion. The author believes that the religion is suitable for their social needs and lifestyle of shifting cultivation and has backward social and economic development.
