Abstract |
The author speculates that the Mlabri might be descendants of ancient Mongoloids and have survived until today. Distinctive aspects of this nomadic group are that it did not know the Stone Age Culture because the group did not produce any stone tools. It did not know hand looms, so clothing could not be produced. The Mlabri are not involved in agricultural activities and they neither build permanent shelters nor wear jewelry. John H. Brandt notes that the Mlabri might be nomadic hunter-gatherers like the Negritos. Despite having no definite skills, the ethnic group has its own handicrafts and decorative arts. They have their own spoken language, conduct dance rituals, and have their particular belief system. It can be concluded that they are not barbarians.
