Abstract |
The Lawa are a highland ethnic group subsisting on agriculture. Lawa men and women have equal social status. They believe in animism and sacrificial rituals are conducted. Lawa houses are on high stilts with only one large room. Women move in with men’s families after marriage. Due to spatial limitation, new couples usually move out to create their own nuclear families.
