Abstract |
The Semang lived in the northern region while the Sakai resided in the central and southern regions of the Malay Peninsular before Thais and Malays migrated to the areas. The lifestyles, cultures and physiques of the two ethnic groups are relatively similar. They are nomads and hunter-gatherers in deep jungles. Superstition and legends are prevalent. Nowadays, many of them have settled permanently and become assimilated to the mainstream cultures. Their children receive education from state schools.
