Abstract |
The population of the Karen is higher than that of other minority ethnic groups in Thailand. The Karen is divided into Skaw, Pwo and Bwe. The dialects and traditions are slightly different from one group to another. The ethnic group still strongly believes in animism and superstition, even though many have been converted to Buddhism and Christianity. The Karen have their own writing system. The group is mostly found in the western region.
