Abstract |
The Mlabri is a nomadic tribe in the jungles of northern Thailand. They use banana leaves as roofs to cover their shelters. When the leaves turn yellow, they move to a new place. The Mlabri language is classified under the Austroasiatic Family. They lead a simple life dependent on forest products and wild animals. The group is monogamous and practices animism. They suffer from health problems due to poor sanitation. Mlabri men like to have their bodies tattooed with northern Thai script. It is believed that the tattoos might protect them from dangers or poisonous animals. They use poison arrows to hunt wild animals.
