Abstract |
The Phuthai ethnic group was originally a peasant community based on subsistence agriculture. The family is of the extended and patrilineal type. A village head and village council are in charge of the well being of villagers. Phuthai are Buddhists but they also practice animism. Their lifestyle, beliefs and rituals are unique to the group. However, their socio-cultural aspects have gradually changed in the context of globalization.
