A Thesis Submitted in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of Master of Science (Food and Nutrition for Development ), Faculty of Graduates Studies, Mahidol University |
Abstract |
The thesis compares the quality of breast milk and Vitamin A deficiency among the Karen with that of lowland lactating women during the rainy and dry seasons in Om Koi District, Chiang Mai Province. It is found that the quality and Vitamin A in breast milk among the Karen women is significantly lower than that of lowland women in seasons, affecting the growth and development as well as the extent of malnutrition among Karen children. It is recommended that providing Vitamin A tablets and improving the nutrition of lactating Karen women and improving child rearing methods would alleviate the problems.
