Abstract |
The Lue prefer to settle in mountain valleys near water sources. Their houses are made of wood and are on high stilts. The group eats sticky rice for its staple diet. The Lue practice subsistence agriculture and weave for household use. Lue society is patriarchal. Women are followers and young women are under the care of their parents until they get married. Although Lue are Buddhists, animistic rituals are still practiced. The group believes in life after death and reincarnation.
