Abstract |
The report focuses on local traditions that help promote social assimilation between Muslim and Buddhist Thais in five villages in the three southern border provinces, namely Patani, Yala and Narathiwat. The villages are either all Muslim or all Buddhist or a combination of both. Despite religious differences, the villagers participate in social events and festivals to express their social solidarity.
