Abstract |
Matchmakers in Phuthai communities at Tambon Kham Cha-ee play an important role in the security of marriage for new couples. To become a matchmaker, one must be financially secure and socially respectable, being able to provide advice to newly married couples on their livelihood, economy and lifestyle. Matchmakers are usually respectable individuals in the community and play a significant role before, during and after marriage. They are regarded as second parents of new couples.
