Abstract |
Muni (Sakai) is an ethnic group in southern Thailand, who has led an indigenous life as hunters and gatherers. However, they still have beliefs, customs, traditions, and knowledge about medicinal herbs, which are unique to the ethnic group. When development or progress has arrived, the ethnic lifestyle has changed accordingly. They have to adjust and adapt to the socio-cultural aspects of the mainstream, whereas their indigenous identity has often been looked down upon by outsiders. The ethnic group has learned several important lessons through their experience in contacting with various people in the outside world.
