Abstract |
1.Tai Dam at Ban Na Pa Nat,KhaoKeao Sub-District, Chiang Khan District, Loei province - They mostlyearns for a living as a rice farmer, weaver and soy and corn farming. Their house is stilt houses and becoming concrete and built-on-ground house. They usually wear consistent to Thai people in their daily life. Their traditional costume occasionally dress up in the ceremony. They usually have sticky rice and rarely have beef. When they get sick, they mostly take the conventional medicine totally 85 percent, the local treatment for 10 percent and self-care for 5 percent. They still believe in animism that limits their behavior and maintains the tradition related to spiritual such as new year celebration and marriage etc.
2. Phu Thai at Ban Nong Chang and Ban Kaen Sai – They still live traditional in stilt houses and rarely find the new housing material. Tattoo is popular among men especiallyon their legsto knees. Last 40 years, the young people mostly dress up as same as Thai people but elder people still wear traditional costume. They consume the food as same as local northeast or Isan people. When they get sick, they take conventional medicine totally 90 percent and take folk medicine for 8 percent. Their cultural aspect is harmonic with Lao and Isan culture. They believe in ancestor spirit called ThaLah. Their quality of life in modern way isn’t found in their community.
3. Nyaw at Ban Thakhonyang– Their housing is built from wood with stilt and thatched roof. The design and material are always changed. Nowadays, they always dress up as same as Thai people and wear their traditional costume in special occasion. They consume the local Isan food. When they get sick, they take conventional medicine totally 95 percent and take mixed folk medicine for 5 percent. Nyaw’s way of life is mostly influenced by politic. They also maintain their belief and tradition among agriculture and rural society. Moreover, they still follow on their annual traditionsuch as Rice Spirit Worship (Phi Taa Haak).
