Abstract |
The author presented general information, historical background, geographical aspects, economy, demography, and environmental resources of the community. The study showed that the community members were unified to perform animistic and religious rituals and were able to solve their internal conflicts. Nevertheless, they were pacifist, inexpressive, non-creative, and exploited by outsiders. Additionally, drug abuse was a chronic problem in the community. Furthermore, public infrastructure was not provided by the state, and illiteracy in Thai brought about communication problems with state officials. However, opportunities for the community included abundance of natural resources, constructive wisdom that could be applied to their daily lives, and being a part of the Mae Wang River Basin Network.
