Originally, the Tai Lue inhabited the district of Sipsong Panna, but there was a migration in which they came to Thailand along two routes. These are: via Kengtung and Tachileik, and a route through Laos, and entering Thailand through Chiang Khong. The Tai Lue cultivate rice paddy, have orchards, raise livestock, and have local knowledge regarding their water resources. They use a weir irrigation system, and there are also village doctors who treat patients by identifying the causes of their illnesses. These are understood as follows: illnesses caused by the powers of nature, where the body's four elements, earth, water, air, and fire, which create equilibrium and completeness, and the use of herbal remedies, and will use local methods in tandem with modern medicine.
