Abstract |
The study investigates participatory family planning of 48 Hmong husbands by providing them with knowledge on population problems, family planning and reproductive care. There were discussions, interviews, observations, and a focus group to improve lifestyle and health care. It is found that there were changes in their knowledge, beliefs, family health care, joint decision on family planning methods, annual check-ups of their wives’ health, and child care. Since there were positive changes, the village head and committee requested the center to organize the same training course for 25 couples. The trainees were interested in health and reproductive care by asking a lot of questions. Training with the participation of husbands should be conducted to promote family planning and reproductive care behavior in other areas.
