Abstract |
The report focuses on the hand-woven cloth of the Karen in Pa Lao Village. It also covers the ethnic group’s origin, migration, settlement, lifestyle, and dress. There is a distinction between traditional dress in married and unmarried women. Men wear the same dress from childhood until they get married. Weaving is an exclusive duty of women and they must weave for their husbands and children as well. Weaving also illustrates one’s skills and designs as well as family honor. The investigation also covers the whole weaving process from start to finish.
