Abstract |
The thesis investigated a family relationship and a society of Mien women through the author, his Mien girlfriend and her female relatives who sold soybean milk in a municipal market in order to examine how they utilized the power relationship among themselves. The thesis chronicled the life of his Mien girlfriend into three parts: from birth to school years, before having decided to become his girlfriend, and after having moved in with him. This was to explore her perspectives she received from those around her, her co-workers, and her boyfriend; and the perspectives of lowlanders and other ethnic groups toward Mien women.
