Abstract |
The Lee family is a farming household of the Hmong ethnic group in Chiang Mai, which integrates the new agricultural theory with the sufficiency economy according to HM the King’s initiative. The family also develops agricultural methods and administers labor and family activities. It is found from this investigation that the family is self-sufficient without debts and with enough food for consumption all year round by conducting the integrated system of agriculture. Surpluses are sold to earn extra money to buy necessities and for the children’s education. From personal observation, the family does not quarrel but divides responsibilities according to members’ labor potential. When confusion arises, Mr. Lee’s decisions are deemed final, which is conventional practice in the ethnic group.
