Abstract |
The article focuses on the role of hilltribes in northern Thailand and their integration into the modern Thai society. It presents present and past problems, opinions and attitudes of highland and lowland peoples toward each other, socio-political roles, and implementations by the state. The author also provides personal opinions about future problems of state policies if governments overlook the issue of ethnic diversity, which is the foundation of Thai society.
