Abstract |
The research findings reveal that the weaving of the Karen villagers has changed from the past from weaving for daily use to weaving for commercial reasons after it has been promoted by concerned state agencies. The production process has also changed to satisfy consumers’ needs. Threads have been improved. Dyes are more permanent and designs as well as products are more diverse. Knowledge transmission has not been exclusively for women in the family, but it has been systematically conducted by the state agencies.
