Abstract |
It is found that the most desirable characteristics for a village head that are required by Karen people in Khun Yuam District are to be reliable, helpful and caring. Other characteristics are to be participatory, friendly, compromising, putting public interests ahead of personal ones, responsible, patient, democratic, and neutral. The least desirable characteristic is being a leader at the annual spirit appeasement ritual. Other undesirable characteristics include being too work-focused, uncaring, and being a descendant of a former village head.
