Abstract |
The Karen(Pwo) at Tung Ting Village is a traditional and matriarchal society, with mostly a nuclear family type. Sia Keng Khu is the ritual leader in the community. The villagers still wear traditional dress, but have education lower than the compulsory level. They are rice and tomato farmers. Furthermore, they believe that spirits exist everywhere, so appeasement rituals must be conducted.
