Abstract |
From the investigation of 100 paper-cutting designs, it is found that they are similar to those of the metal designs, because they are from the same source: to decorate Buddhist architecture in order to enhance the faith of Buddhists. The cutting is mostly in the same paper and chisels are used to cut out the designs. Artisans base their designs on Buddhist beliefs and use their imagination to create designs of their own.
