| Abstract |
|
The roles of the big drums are many: played in an ensemble, for worship, for communication, in competition, and as an expression of cultural identity. Currently, the drum has become a cultural identity of the Yong in the Ping River Plains in Chiang Mai and Lamphun. The status of the drum is both a musical instrument and a competitive tool.
