Abstract |
The objective of this investigation is to study fundamental data of Mae Yang Community and to study factors affecting future development and development trends. It is found that the community was established twenty years ago with a population of 117 from 26 households. The residents depend on rain-fed rice cultivation. There are one education center and three healthcare centers in the community. The residents are Buddhist, Christians and animists. There are three types of changes in the community due to development. They are political and administrative, socio-cultural, and economic. There are two types of factors affecting development, namely internal and external. The internal factors include unity, natural conservation traditions, and political participation. The external factors are state and private agencies, the non-formal education center, public health officers, development officers, and a Catholic center. External factors impeding development include negative attitude of officers toward the residents, inconvenient transportation routes, and insufficient knowledge about external society of the residents.
