Abstract |
This research is to study the social and cultural structure of Tai Lue, the procedures, the trends and the factors leading to the change of the Tai Lue in the aspects of language, dress and the tradition about their beliefs. It is found that the original habitation of the Tai Lue people is in Xishuangbanna, but Tai Lue groups in the North of Thailand and Ban Thung Mok migrated to Thailand due to forcible displacement and the domestic change in China. With their migration, they also maintained their cultural and traditional patterns which are the identity of this ethnic group. However, it is also found that some culture has changed because the expansion of infrastructure has caused simple and fast change. The main factors in this change are media, the people whom they have interaction with and the marriage tradition which has changed the most. While the least change is the language. The tradition about their beliefs are still maintained, although, some of it has changed. The ones who get higher education and the younger ones will accept the new culture and changes more easily.
