Abstract |
The Muslim Thais in Nong Chok Community are aware that they are true Muslims, have faith in Islam, and embrace Islam as their way of life. Islam influences their livelihood. Families, religious schools and mosques play a key role in cultivating religious faith, ethics and values in Muslim youths. The youths grow up within Islamic culture, following the same social norms. The Arabic language is used in religious ceremonies while Malay and Thai are code-switched in some Muslim elders. However, there have been changes in Muslim values due to socio-economic changes and state development, resulting in cultural changes among community members.
