Abstract |
The work describes the culture of the health care of the Hmong who combine alternative medicine with modern medicine. Using traditional norms and contemporary laws as social regulation has certain impacts on intra-group relationships. Regarding arts and performance, urban Hmong still maintain their tradition while some young Hmong integrate it with modern dance. Beliefs in super natural power and spirits are still practiced. The Hmong feel that coming into the city center is just to earn a living. The real rituals are practiced at their original communities. Economy-wise, there is a change from subsistence agriculture to home industry and trade by establishing a trade network among themselves and between the Hmong and townspeople and foreigners. Their adjustment to residing with townspeople has been without any problems.
