Abstract |
The study findings revealed that most of the sample group was single males aged between 16 and 25 years with bachelor degrees, and with an income lower than 6,000 baht per month. It was found that the sample group knew about living organisms allowed for consumption in daily life, unclean substances, and how to kill animals according to Islamic principles. However, they had little knowledge about chemicals used in consumer products. For the Halal symbol, it was revealed that the sample group recognized the symbol and knew the agencies who issued the Halal symbol certification. Regarding the factors relating to their knowledge, it was found that age, education level, income, status, and occupation were related to the knowledge, while gender was not. At present, young Muslims of school ages did not see the significance or did not have knowledge of the symbol because they were not interested or had little interest in their religion.
