Abstract |
This thesis examines changes in the cultural patterns of the hilltribe community and conditions governing such changes. The changes studied are in three major areas: namely, dressing, and house making which is mainly cosmetic. The interior of their homes still remains unchanged. Better-off families tend to build their houses in a similar way to those of the lowlanders’. Their pattern of consumption is varied because of the increase in population and contact with the lowlanders.
