Abstract |
In Yao society where children are raised separately between boys and girls, girls will be taught embroidery knowledge and skills by their mothers. In addition, girls are trained to be hard working and to always embroider in their free time. An ethnic perspective is that young men would select girls who always embroider as their life partners. These traditional practices have maintained this traditional skill amidst rapid changes of their society.
