Abstract |
The author divides the evolution of Muslim communities into two periods: the period before 1899 and the period from 1899 to 1999. The latter period is divided into three periods. They include Islam studies in the family institution (1899-1944), Islam studies in Por Nor schools (1945-1973), and Islam studies in private religious schools (1974-1999). The evolution of Muslim communities in the study area depended largely on the studies and proselytization of Islam, bringing about changes, because Islam has become a major factor in the social structure, cultivating appropriate social behavior in the area for generations. It has become a medium connecting society members to have morality, ethics, a desire for human rights, and other good deeds. Religious evolution has become a driving force for social order, unity and peace in all localities.
