| Abstract |
|
The Hmong is an ethnic group which is highly independent and their habitat is in the mountains. Their main economic activity is opium cultivation which is a main reason that makes the Hmong regularly migrate. The Migration of the Hmong can be described in 2 aspects; the economic aspect and the social aspect. The economic reason for migration is to search for more and more plentiful agricultural land. Also, the social aspect, which has 2 factors; interpersonal relationships where migration follows the ones with whom they have a close relationship, and migration that follows close family members. However, it becomes difficult for the Hmong to migrate because of the continually increasing population; for this reason, the author has suggested that the Hmong should change their main economic activity and reduce the importance of opium cultivation in Hmong society.
