Abstract |
The research focuses on settlement patterns, livelihood, traditions, social structures, and administration of the Akha ethnic group in Luang Nam Tha and Chiang Rai. It also compares the architectural styles of the houses of the ethnic group in the two localities. It is found that the architectural styles of houses of the Akha in Luang Nam Tha are still conventional, whereas those in Chiang Rai have become more modern due to the unavailability of traditional materials and to permanent residence.
