Abstract |
In the past, the Kui at Dong Krathing Village strictly adhered to their traditions, customs and beliefs until they inherited their ethnic identity. However, their awareness on maintaining their ethnic identity is in crisis nowadays, due to overall social changes, state policies on national development, and competition to become economic leaders of the private sector. One of the results is that the ethnic group has been encountering the cultural assimilation process, making their society being without cultural identity. In general, their adjustment to change in the age of globalization could be done well despite having some negative impacts on their lifestyle. The adjustment is based on survival, but it is possible to trace back and study their traditions and rituals.
